Norfolk Honey - Honey bees in a box

brood box of bees

A new brood box with a nucleus of bees inside.

Getting started

A brood box with nuc of bees ready to travel

If you are keen to get started in bee keeping but don't have much time then this is for you.

I'm offering brand new made up brood boxes on an open mesh floor with a complete set of new frames and a laying queen inside on a four frame nuc brood secured and ready to travel. You simply need to arrange with me a time when you want to arrive and put the brood box in your car and take your bees away (a couple of days notice is useful).

When you get home and have posititioned your new hive (see instructions) pull out the cloth that stuffs up the entrance block and your bees will fly. You will need a roof (I can supply). You can leave the box for few days for the bees to settle down before taking out the screws that holds on the temporary crown board. You will, in the next few weeks after sighting your new hive, want to put on a queen excluder and some supers for the bees to store honey in (again I can supply these for you).

New beehive just put togther and ready to go

When you come to the end of July you will want to extract your honey from the frames inside the supers (that is made a lot easier for the beginner if they are already a member of their local bee keepers association and can borrow a honey extractor) or of course I can supply you with a honey extractor too if you wish to own your own.

In fact you can arrive with nothing and leave with everything you require to start bee keeping - including Paul Metcalf's DVD.

Please email me for current prices.
