Norfolk Honey - Honey Bees for sale

Poly nuc

Bees for sale

You can buy bees from Norfolk Honey at pretty much any time of the year. But the main season for picking up nucs is from the end of April to the middle of July.

In April and May we sell nucs with the previous year's queen. The first of the year's nucs generally become available towards the end of April (depending on the weather conditions at the time). The price of a nuc changes by the year - please email me for current prices if they are not stated. We offer a choice of traveling box to put your nuc in - see below. You can also supply your own traveling box - but it does need to be brand new and not have had bees in before.

We also work with other bee keepers to offer you bees from these pick up points:

You can also buy honeybees from Norfolk Honey in June, July, August and September. From June to September the nucs will have new marked current year queens.

Once we get towards the end of July we stop selling nucs but have full colonies for sale.

We do have some fixed price offers where we hold to a stated price. For example our beginners early start April offer and our offer of bees for delivery in April, May and June. For these you can pay a deposit in advance to reserve your bees.

Our bees are supplied by Norfolk beekeepers and can all be best described as 'Norfolk Mongrels' ranging in colour from dark to light. Ken's bees are the darkest, Adams the lightest.

All queens are marked.

All our bees are supplied on Standard British National Hoffman self spacing frames (with exception of Ken's bees for top bar hives and our shook swarms for Warre hives).

We supply bees in five different types of box:

Plywood traveling boxes made up new for the purpose with bees on five Hoffman frames - fine for local pick ups.

Brood boxes with a complete set of twelve Hoffman frames - these will travel a long distance when attached to an open mesh floor and are a good choice for beginners who haven't yet bought a hive. We generally use standard National brood boxes but we can supply any sized box if you give us notice in advance.

Polystyrene traveling boxes that have feed in for the journey - we use these for our bees that are delivered by carrier or that are going on a long journey.

Top bar nuc boxes - please give us plenty of notice if you want bees for a top bar hive.

Warre sections - again a couple of weeks noticed is required for us to do a shook swarm.

Queens

We work with other beekeepers to sell mated queens and don't sell new mated queen's of our own. But we have some old queens available if you can collect from Norwich.

Second hand hives with bees

We can generally offer second hand hives with bees for sale at any time of the year.
